THE CHILDHOOD TRUST

Who they support

We are looking for registered charities with over £25,000 income that have an existing supporter base and an appetite to engage with us and with the general public. In order to be successful in our campaigns, it is helpful for charities to have an active trustee board or major donors who are prepared to make pledges to kickstart the project. The Childhood Trust does not fund religious activities or capital costs.

Grant criteria

Our bi-annual matched-funding campaigns fund the delivery of projects that support thousands of disadvantaged children and young people across London every year. Our campaigns are delivered through the online fundraising platform, the Big Give. Campaign participants receive match funds from The Childhood Trust in the form of a grant. Reporting is required on grants awarded by The Childhood Trust.

The Skip Garden moved 4 times and our fifth move brought us to our current site in King's Cross, the Story Garden. We have also launched a Floating Garden on a barge on the canal in the middle of King's Cross and support a further 40 gardens on the public realm, in local schools and estates. Across the river, in Canada Water, we built the Paper Garden, in collaboration with local children, young people, families, schools, community groups and businesses and we engage them in co-creating the public realm of this new development. To date we have worked with over 4,500 local children, young people and their families in Camden and Islington, providing over 30,000 hands-on and reflective opportunities, designed to empower them to transform their own lives, their communities and their environment with an interconnected, nature-oriented worldview.
