ALLCHILD

Overview

AllChild provides specialist support to children in West London by engaging families, schools and partnerships with local organisations to deliver a personalised 2-year support plan. Their tailored services are provided by Link Workers who refine bespoke Individual Support Plans that help progress children.

Their ability to secure contracts and grants has given them significant financial stability, though ongoing donations are vital to sustain their work. This is supported by consistent evidenced delivery of positive outcomes for children in attainment and well-being, that has allowed them to secure contracts with local authorities based on outcome milestones. Challenges in measuring additionality are also being addressed through ongoing evaluations. Notably, they estimate substantial savings for local authorities and report high success rates, especially for beneficiaries facing school exclusions.

How do they operate?

Individual Support Programme

Objectives: Supporting children from deprived backgrounds at school

Intervention period: 2-year programme, personalised to individual young person

Beneficiaries: Children and young people aged 3 to 18

Description: Allchild places Link Workers with a cohort of children from a particular school for a period of at least 2 years. These children are selected by the school, informed by analysis of school data on attainment and attendance, and Link Workers co-ordinate Individual Support Plans for each child that are informed by the school and parents. They then commission support from a pool of charities working in West London to carry out specialist sessions to deliver every child's plan jointly with Allchild

Commentary: Evaluations taken from cohorts of children that have completed a 2-year Allchild programme indicate young people who were previously 'at risk' go on to improve or meet their targets. Evaluations also suggest an increase in the effectiveness of their programme as cohorts are achieving targets in a shorter time period
