About Us

Giving is Great is an initiative developed and hosted by The EQ Foundation, a registered charity connected with EQ Investors. It includes information about EVERY registered charity in the United Kingdom (almost 200,000).
Why are we doing this?

The EQ Foundation is committed to increasing the visibility of smaller highly effective charities that cannot afford large marketing budgets. We are also dedicated to improving the evaluation of impact across the sector, so that the cost of fund raising for the best charities falls. Giving is Great was developed in response to the difficulty we found in trying to identify the best charities. Our view was (and remains) that charities which have been endorsed by reputable funders, evaluators or awards are more likely to be worth investigating. Since then we have added analytics to highlight good and bad examples of governance and financial management.

Our own grants programme

The EQ Foundation also makes grants on its own behalf and these can be viewed below. We favour organisations with strong and committed leadership, evidence of high impact and the ambition to expand. We regret that we do NOT accept unsolicited applications for funding.

Tythe is an online platform developed by The EQ Foundation to enable small regular donations to be made to a curated portfolio of environmental charities.

Donors are kept informed about the activities of the charities and their impact, whilst being shielded from incessant requests to donate more.
