We will offer a weekly Peer Support Group, delivered as part of our Members Programme and designed to meet the needs of women who are struggling with their mental health. The group will meet for 30 to 60 minutes weekly, creating a safe and supportive space for women to come together to discuss their experiences and coping strategies, and support each other. Women will benefit from learning they are not alone, accessing companionship from other women with similar experiences, and finding out about the tools and resources that are available to them. Each group will be followed by a 30 to 60 minute creative workshop, delivered by a Drama Therapist and Assistant Facilitator. At least one of these groups per Season will be delivered by a Clean Break Member who is further along her journey than many of the women in the group (so at least three Member-led groups across the year). Building on the issues and learning that emerge in the Peer Support Group, the workshop will give women a chance to do something creative with the issues that arise: using creative tools to work with that distress, and tapping into new resources (e.g. learning to meditate, or building story-telling skills). In this way the workshop will augment the impact of the Support Groups: encouraging self-expression, building strong and trusting relationships between the members of the group, and increasing the skills and tools available to women to manage their own mental health and wellbeing.

Our Members Programme meets all the objectives outlined by The Tampon Tax Community Fund but we know our work builds skills and confidence. We have over 25 years of experience delivering a transformative, theatre-based training and education programme. We have worked with over 1500 women nine out of ten women reported that their confidence had increased since joining Clean Break and over 95% said they learnt important skills and that their personal growth and development had improved. It has given me a route to transform all those negative experiences into something that benefits others Clean Break Member Our Members Programme aims to: Build confidence and self-esteem, alongside vital skills such as communication and team working Build wellbeing and resilience, and provide support to address complex issues linked with offending Raise aspirations, developing womens performance and creative skills Provide a range of public performance opportunities both on-stage and in non-typical theatre spaces Support womens progression into further work and study in the theatre sector and beyond We will measure this impact over the next year by monitoring the following: 70 women per year will participate in Clean Breaks Members Programme; At least 80% will report increased confidence, and that they feel more hopeful about the future. Evaluation questionnaires and case studies will show Members are making progress towards more positive futures, developed skills as well as increased independence and resilience; At least 20 each year will participate in Clean Breaks public-facing projects (e.g. productions). Some will also move into opportunities outside the company (e.g. productions, further training, other creative roles).
