The Foundation operates a model of engaged philanthropy, combining intellectual, social and financial capital. Our experience suggests that by promoting stronger partnerships and concentrating funding, knowledge and expertise in a very focused way; The Foundation can maximise impact across the UK. To achieve this we introduced our membership platform RankNet, which currently has over 1500 members. Our funding and grant programmes are by application only via the RankNet platform. Organisations who are not members are able to apply for Pebble Grants.

Grant criteria

The Rank Foundation is a grant-giving charitable trust that offers grants through its Pebble Grants programme. Additional to a major grant programme, that currently doesn’t accept unsolicited applications, the Foundation has a minor grants programme which offers grants of up to £7,500. Projects are eligible if they meet one of the Foundations aims of: - Encouraging and developing leadership - Promoting enterprise and innovation - Caring for the disadvantaged and the marginalised - Promoting the understanding of the values, traditions and practices of the Christian faith.

Grant details

Pebbles is our small funding stream for UK registered charities and recognised churches which are raising money for projects where the total cost is less than £150,000. This money can be spent on short breaks (such as an annual respite break or holiday for disadvantaged young people), equipment (such as white goods), or capital costs (refurbishment or minor building work). Pebble grant applications are processed on a quarterly basis. It can take up to 4 months for a decision and payment to be made. Grants are awarded on a discretionary basis; the Rank Foundation’s contribution ranges from £250 up to and including £4,000, depending on the total cost of the project.

Application procedure

Applications are only open to registered charities or charity exempt churches, and you must have an annual turnover of less than £500,000. Grants are available to Capital or Short Breaks projects, with a separate online application available depending on which you wish to apply for. Note that you must have raised a third of your total costs before making an application You can find eligibility details for these applications on the website, as well as the online application forms.
