It will provide an integrated model of care including mental & physical health, legal protection, and housing/welfare support. Funding will contribute to management costs, organisational overheads, travel and interpreter costs, staff training and evaluation activity. The beneficiaries will show improved mental health and be protected for further harm, whilst the organisation will also share best practice and contribute to system and attitudinal change to providing support for survivors of human trafficking and torture.

Survivors of torture, war crimes, trafficking, slavery and violence are fleeing to the UK in increasing numbers. Female refugees and asylum seekers are particularly vulnerable and at high risk of re-victimisation. Helen Bamber Foundation in London has a strong track record of working with these women. With this grant it will offer Integrated Models of Care, a holistic package of support which includes specialist psychological care, physical rehabilitation, welfare and housing advice and creative arts and skills. As a result, women will be able to stay safe, build resilience, develop new skills and peer support, helping them to move towards a positive future.
