This project will enable us to; - work with more women in a groupwork setting, reduce our waiting lists and enable more women to benefit from participating in an EVA Programme. Programme work includes; looking at what constitutes a healthy/unhealthy relationship, goal setting, self-care, confidence building etc - help women improve their social networks. This experience can be daunting at first, for example if women have had negative experiences at school, but we know from feedback and case studies that women value the bonding during the sessions and form lasting relationships with fellow participants. Groupwork helps to build confidence, develop social skills, improves networking and increase self-esteem - help to reduce the risk of women becoming repeat victims and potentially reduce the number of new victims by working with male perpetrators of domestic abuse in a victim-focussed way. Longer term perpetrator programmes are available but these are or around 8 months duration and unless a perpetrator is compelled to attend (through a prison licence or court order) they need to make a long-term voluntary commitment, which is a 'big ask'for someone who may only have recently acknowledged they have a problem, and need to address it. Our programme will be short-term (4 x 2 hour sessions) and this will benefit participants by a) attending bite-sized sessions with a short-term commitment b) at least, planting the seed that they need to change their behaviour c) testing their commitment to join the long term programme thus reducing the number of drop-outs. This will encourage male perpetrators to address their behaviour, thus reducing the risk of them re-abusing partners, or going on to abuse new partners
