Fat Macy’s Foundation works with young people in London, supporting them to get out of homelessness and into their own homes via catering employment. This grant supports Fat Macy’s to utilise a gifted space in Shoreditch to create a new permanent Training Academy space. Through the space, the organisation will grow the number of trainees supported to around 190 a year through a minimum of 24 Training Academies

£50,000 over two years (£25,000; £25,000) for the costs of delivering therapeutic support to the organisation’s beneficiaries and a contribution to core costs.

The funding will be used to deliver a catering training employability and wellbeing programme for people who have experienced homelessness. The project aims to increase participants skills confidence and employability opportunities.

The funding will be used to provide emergency relief support including 121 support food parcels essential items and cooking equipment to those who are living in hostels. The project works with young people living in hostel accommodation.

The project will use the funding to provide chef's training, well-being and skills sessions for people who are leaving homelessness, as well as and provide an intervention to support people.

Fat Macy's is a catering social enterprise that helps people with nowhere to live put down a deposit for their first rented accommodation. It initially provides five-day catering boot camps in partnership with homeless hostels. Then, once trainees have completed 200 hours of paid work, Fat Macy's uses revenue from its catering business to support them with a deposit. Its beneficiaries leave with a place to live, a qualification and valuable work experience. The Fore funded Fat Macy's to provide the necessary staff capacity to open its own restaurant, significantly increasing its revenue and the number of trainees it can support. This should enable Fat Macy's to create a sevenfold increase in the amount contributed to rental deposits.
