The funding will develop a new Growing Together Basildon therapeutic community garden project in Vange an area of multiple deprivation in south Essex. The project will improve places and spaces in a deprived area of Basildon. Growing Together Basildon will be a purpose-built community garden providing physical activity positive activities and wellbeing support. The project will be targeted at adults with mental health problems mild learning disabilities dementia vulnerable young people families with young children and women’s group. The project will run positive activities three days per week supporting and working around the development and transformation of the site. Activities will include gentle physical exercise activities construction work garden maintenance horticultural and vocational training and travel training to support independent travel to the site. Members will also get keyworker support from staff to help improve wellbeing and connect to relevant support services.
