Anawim’s website is not fit for purpose. It exists on a platform which requires specific technical knowledge to be properly maintained, so we are unable to update its content, post regular job and volunteer vacancies, or use it to promote services and demonstrate impact. This project involves the development of a new website which can be easily maintained. Our internal CRM system, CiviCRM, which holds data for our women, will be integrated with the new site, allowing us to streamline manual processes such as referrals and course registrations, freeing up capacity for staff. We will increase our income generation through advertising new projects including renting out space at the centre and individual giving. Bringing Anawim’s work to a wider audience and an improved user experience combined with more informative and engaging content will encourage more donations and interest from potential funders, partners and volunteers, as well as women seeking support. As an organisation we are currently working to create a sustainability strategy, which falls in line with Anawim’s mission and core activities. The main focus areas are: diversifying our income streams and improving visibility within the community, supporting more women through courses, drop in and outreach services, and encouraging volunteers and service users to take more ownership of the centre through higher level responsibilities. We are considering how we can sustain a high level of service with resources already in place and how we can support more women in a cost-effective way.

A restricted grant of £20,000 towards salaries of prison in-reach workers carrying out through the gate work. Anawim is a women's centre which aims to support vulnerable women, through courses and activities that will increase social responsibility, skills and awareness. A holistic approach includes counselling and drop in sessions. This project delivers support directly with women leaving prison into the community.

To offer support to high risk female offenders, including 1:1 caseworkers and on-site psychologists available to provide specialist mental health support.

Improved mental health ongoing counselling, enabling women to share and receive support for deeply embedded traumatic experiences. Access to NHS psychologist led therapeutic courses such as TREM (Trauma, Recovery and Empowerment Model), REDD (Regulating Emotions and Dealing with Distress), Seeking Safety (trauma and substance abuse) and Stop and Think (problem solving for women with Personality Disorder. We expect that 75% of women will attend at least 1 counselling session and/or therapeutic course, at least 100 hours of counselling will be delivered. Improved mental health access to full timetable of courses and workshops including functional skills, self-esteem, confidence and empowerment, encouraging women towards constructive, healthier and positive life choices. We expect that 50% of women will attend at least one workshop at the centre. Improved physical health- through decreased substance/alcohol misuse, access to rehabilitation programmes through external agencies such as CGL, and advocacy to register with GPs, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Psychiatrists and Dentists. We expect to see a reduction in substance/alcohol misuse within 25% of women with these needs. Improved physical health reduced likelihood of self-harm through advice and support on constructive coping strategies, signposting on practical matters which may induce stress, depression or anxiety such as money management, benefits, homelessness, drug treatment, parenting, healthcare, training, and education and employment opportunities. Reduced homelessness increased access to safe housing, advice on finance to assist the women to maintain existing tenancies, avoiding evictions. We will deliver at least 50 hours of Money Advice. Reduced risk of harm caused by unhealthy relationships and/or sexual exploitation access to legal services, removing perpetrators from the home, helping her obtain injunctions. We expect to reduce the likelihood of harm for 15% of women with these needs, through referral over to our Domestic Violence caseworker, Sexual Violence caseworker, or implementing support plans.

A project to extend a prison in-reach and street outreach team, expand a counselling service to include trauma support, resettlement help for women offenders returning from prison, and crisis support for street sex workers. The scheme will include advice on housing, benefits, reuniting with children, drug and alcohol services. It will also offer a drop-in service providing advocacy, advice, food, toiletries, and support with accommodation.

Anawim works with women over the age of 18 who are in prison or on alternatives to custodial sentences and ex-offenders to support their rehabilitation, reintegration into society and reduce the risk of reoffending. Working with a range of public services and voluntary support agencies co-ordinate a tailored holistic package of advice, information, practical help and training for clients to reduce the risk of reoffending.
