Our project aims to: 1. Improve the capacity and capability of A&SP to deliver effective preventative work with children and young people around Hate Crime. 2. Support children and young people to have the knowledge and skills to question and challenge divisive narratives. 3. Increase the reach and influence of the voice of children and young people who are championing inclusion and diversity. Working in partnership with A&SP, we will deliver the following activities: To meet aim 1 we will: 1. Redesign our successful Diversity and Behaviour Champions programme into a condensed 4 session programme to be delivered to year 5 pupils (age 9-10). The programme will encourage critical thinking around diversity, the protected characteristics, shared values and the way we should treat people who are different. 2. Train and support Hate Crime Champions from A&SP to deliver these sessions in schools to a high quality. To meet aim 2 we will: 3. Engage 7 secondary schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, working with at least 70 students, to develop drama performances that will be delivered by students to the year 5 groups as peer learning sessions. 4. Deliver the programme in 25 primary schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, targeting schools in areas of high need, reaching at least 625 children. 5. Twin at least 10 of these primary schools with partners with a different demographic and bring these schools together for Exchange Days where pupils can work together, learn about different communities and produce a piece of joint artwork to showcase their learning, reaching at least 250 children. To meet aim 3: 6. Create a public art trail around Bristol using the children’s artworks created by the children and launch this in the city reaching at least 300 people (including a lunch event and media campaign).
