Objectives

THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: 1. TO RELIEVE THE CHARITABLE NEEDS ASSOCIATED WITH AGEING OF OLDER PEOPLE RESIDENT IN SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE AND IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY: A) TO RELIEVE POVERTY, HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS THROUGH CAMPAIGNING, THE PROVISION OF INFORMATION AND ADVICE. B) TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT GOOD HEALTH C) TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF INFORMATION REGARDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEVELOPING SKILLS IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE AIM OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE. 2. TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY WORKING WITH PEOPLE IN SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED ON THE GROUNDS OF THEIR AGE TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF SUCH PEOPLE AND ASSIST THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY BY: A) PROVIDING A LOCAL NETWORK GROUP THAT ENCOURAGES AND ENABLES MEMBERS OVER 50 TO PARTICIPATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH THE WIDER COMMUNITY; AND B) INCREASING AND CO-ORDINATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE AGED OVER 50 TO ENGAGE WITH SERVICE PROVIDERS, TO ENABLE THOSE PROVIDERS TO ADAPT SERVICES TO BETTER MEET THE NEEDS OF THAT COMMUNITY. IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE OBJECTS, THE TRUSTEES SHALL: • RUN LOCAL NETWORKS TO INCREASE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF OLDER PEOPLE, INCREASING THEIR PARTICIPATION IN SOCIETY AND REDUCING SOCIAL EXCLUSION. • RAISE AWARENESS OF THE SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES OFFERED BY PARTNERS AND THE CIO FOR OLDER PEOPLE, SO THEY FEEL INCLUDED AND UNDERSTAND THE LOCAL SUPPORT AVAILABLE. • LISTEN TO CONCERNS AND ISSUES FACING OLDER PEOPLE IN SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE, SHARE THEIR VOICE WITH SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL, BNSSG CCG, LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS AND THE PUBLIC AND CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE FOR THEIR BENEFIT. THE CHARITY SHALL BE NON-PARTY IN POLITICS AND NON-SECTARIAN IN RELIGION. THE AREA OF BENEFIT SHALL BE SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE.
