The SELFIE (Sexual Exploitation Love Friendship Empowerment) project is funded by RC for a period of 5 years ending March 2020. Practice and learning over the funding period have culminated in the development of a specialist programme surpassing target outcomes and impact; and which local beneficiaries and stakeholders want to sustain and extend locally to meet identified need._x000D_
_x000D_
Development routes to be considered and tested:_x000D_
' Extensive rollout of the SELFIE project in school and community settings to reach more young people e.g. through producing a package of training, tools and session plans_x000D_
' Develop a participatory model where appropriate involving young people in the co-production of the programme_x000D_
' Adapt and improve the programme for specific audiences, e.g. different age ranges, young people in the care system, young people who are parents; and specialised modules i.e. intimate partner violence, coercive control, pornography_x000D_
' Research similar projects to develop best practice and the potential for partnership working _x000D_
' Greater focus on networking and promoting the programme to maximise exposure and increase potential investment_x000D_
' Sustaining the SELFIE project financially by researching the current education landscape and other delivery options within the community. _x000D_

Our project aims to support women and girls who have experienced sexual violence through providing specialist long term counselling. The core outcome we will support women to achieve is to increase their health and wellbeing. We expect clients to improve across 5 key indicators of health and wellbeing; Feel better about themselves Understand about how the sexual violence has affected them Develop better coping strategies Take better care of themselves Feel more in control of their emotions In addition to the core outcome of improve their health and wellbeing we also measure clients progress against 4 additional outcomes. These include; Feel empowered to take more control over their lives Are more able to access support; Are more able to develop and maintain positive relationships with others; Feel more able to assert their views and their rights. During the last year clients who completed the counselling process achieved the following outcomes: o 100% of survivors have better physical and emotional health and well-being o 100% of survivors are empowered to take more control over their lives o 100% of survivors are more able to access support o 49% of survivors are more able to develop and maintain positive relationships with others o 100% of survivors are more able to assert their views and their rights Below is feedback from a client who have received counselling in the past year demonstrating some of the outcomes clients are able to achieve through counselling. I felt it really helped with my high levels of anxiety and depression. In the last 9 months with the support given to me I've turned my life around. I feel positive, very happy and looking forward to the future.

Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted in England and Wales each year with only approximately 15% of assaults reported to the Police. The effects of domestic and sexual violence are long lasting and it can take years for people to speak out about their experiences and get the help they need to move on from the trauma which can lead to mental health issues, drug and alcohol problems or self harm and suicide. The Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre provides support to women and men over 12 years of age across County Durham through long term therapeutic support, a telephone listening service and group recovery sessions, this grant will support the salary of their CEO to help increase access to sustainable funding sources.
