In Devon an estimated 11,000 young people with recognised mental health disorders are not receiving support. There's been a 97% rise in the number of children and young people referred to CAMHS and this is predicted to rise annually. The project will deliver mental health prevention and intervention services to young people and families in East Devon. It will run: facilitated peer support groups for 2 age groups (13-18/18-24) that will provide the tools and techniques to improve resilience and build confidence; monthly support groups for parents and mental health awareness workshops in schools and the community helping to break down the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.
