Llamau will work in partnership with more than 21 organisations across Cardiff to pilot different ways to prevent young people from becoming repeatedly homeless. £44018 from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Helping End Homelessness programme will help create a support service for young people which adapts to their individual needs and provides them with the skills and tools they need to avoid homelessness in the future. It will help ensure that young people experiencing homelessness do not face prejudice or discrimination. They will use what they learn from this development phase to apply for a larger grant to run the project. Bydd Llamau yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth â mwy na 21 o sefydliadau ledled Caerdydd i dreialu gwahanol ffyrdd o atal pobl ifanc rhag dod yn ddigartref dro ar ôl tro. Bydd £44018 o raglen Taclo Digartrefedd Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol yn helpu i greu gwasanaeth cymorth i bobl ifanc sy'n addasu i'w hanghenion unigol ac yn rhoi iddynt y sgiliau a'r offer sydd eu hangen arnynt i osgoi digartrefedd yn y dyfodol. Bydd yn helpu i sicrhau nad yw pobl ifanc sy'n profi digartrefedd yn wynebu rhagfarn na gwahaniaethu. The project will create a cyber cafe, run by homeless young people, in a refurbished Merthyr Tydfil shop. It will provide them with work experience, skills, confidence and motivation. The project will improve relationships between young people and the community and will contribute to the regeneration of Merthyr Tydfil. By the end of the year it is anticipated that 30-50 young people will have gained new skills with 15-20 others moving on from the cafe to find further training, education or employment.

This £512,978 project, over 4 years, will target 200 young care leavers, living in Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff, who are not in education, employment or training. It will support them to gain skills and improve motivation and self-esteem. Basic skills training with one-to-one support will be offered, before moving on to formal qualifications. A comprehensive employment preparation programme will be provided and once participants enter employment, they will receive 12 months support.

It will help participants overcome multiple barriers to progression into work and training, through tailored interventions. They will develop basic skills through learning in an informal environment, before moving on to attain formal qualifications. Participants will undertake volunteering and work placements, and five permanent jobs in house renovations will be provided to participants.
