We would like funding towards our monthly rambles for bereaved parents, providing a peer support group, fun and therapy in the great outdoors.

Reuben’s Retreat is partnering with The Worry Wizard in Chester to develop two short, animated films which, together with discussion scripts will help children and adults explore together key themes in both grief and loss and supporting a child with their Worries and should the application be successful, it will provide funding for the first animation and provide a positive start to this brand-new initiative. The short films provide an important therapeutic tool for children’s bereavement counselling but also a reassuring resource that will be offered to the adults who care for them via two short films which can be provided as a standalone resource for use by counsellors for 1:1 or group sessions, face to face or virtually, or by individual families and adults. The children’s animation although primarily for use with our beneficiaries, will also be suitable for use in schools, community groups and charities across Cheshire and the surrounding areas and the aim of the programme is to help children articulate and cope with their worries as they experience sibling loss or uncertain futures. It will also help significant adults understand the child’s thoughts and feelings empowering them to deal with the child’s worries.

We aim to provide respite breaks for five children with life limiting/threatening conditions, and their families, to make special memories.

NET, Comic Relief and Children in Need will use this funding to provide: increased support to vulnerable people and hidden groups, thus reducing the burden on public services; reach local grassroots and small organisations who can provide an on-the-ground community response to the crisis; and, support local charitable organisations to mobilise volunteers to enable better targeted support in communities through empowered local groups.

We want to provide day-trips and short breaks for children and young people with a life-limiting illness or disability and their loved ones.

Money will be used for a range of support and wellbeing activities including music therapy days and coffee mornings.

Reubens Movie Room will give families a fabulously fun cinematic experience to transport them away from their troubles, if only for a while
