This group will use the funding to expand and further develop their 'Memory box Project'. The project delivers sessions to dementia patients in order to stimulate their sense of smell, touch and sound and is delivered by community volunteers. This triggers memories and encourages patients to engage and talk, which has been proven to have a positive impact on the quality of life of patients, carers and families alike. The project will aim to reach out to more people in the South West and South East.

This project will enable adults with physical and learning disabilities in Basingstoke and Deane to become regular users of Basingstoke Discovery centre and take part in a programme of personalised learning activities. This will give them better access to training and development, reduce isolation and provide support for carers outside of existing day care strategies. It will also enable isolated individuals and their carers to play a full part in the developing a programme of opportunities at the centre.
