The funding will be used to expand and develop two projects set up in 2020 which will include a mentoring service project for children who have suffered child sexual abuse for peer to peer support. Additionally the funding will allow for a participation project where service users are able to feedback their experience and ideas towards a co-production of design and delivery of services. The project aims to support children and families of children who have suffered child sexual abuse and empower service users placing them at the centre of the organisations work while improving their networks confidence and skillsets.

This will give service users a sense of control over their lives, giving them the opportunity to participate in their immediate network and wider community. There will be three roles of support; advocacy, legal and therapeutic. Support will be given to improve coping strategies, address family dynamics and help people positively re-engage.

Imara CIC is based in Nottingham city and provides support to children and young people (and their families) that have been victims of child sexual abuse. They work with children and their families through the criminal justice process and beyond for a minimum of 12-months, providing them with advice, information, advocacy and therapeutic support. The grant will partly support the salaries of an Executive Director and Administration as they register as charity, develop stakeholder relationships, support learning from their pilot activities, and build their social media and web presence.
