Cre8 Macclesfield is a Macclesfield based Charity that delivers a comprehensive programme of community and youth work projects using an asset based model of engagement. This project delivers the opportunity for socially isolated people from a broad range of backgrounds and generations to meet and share their experiences. The funding for this project will support the staff and venue costs that facilitate the creation of a safe and engaging space for the participants to meet and interact on an ongoing basis. Through the proposed activities we provide the opportunity for small groups of disadvantaged individuals who are at risk of suffering from poor mental health health to learn together and share together within a safe space that encourages the self-directed development of activities that will improve their mental health and hopefully inspire others as well as building long term face-to-face social connections.

Cre8 will work with the Hope Centre, and build on their combined experiences since the outbreak of COVID-19. The two organisations will work to enhance the skills of young people in order to enable them to support the needs of wider community members. Young people will be empowered and engaged as they become a source of support for people in our community who rely on this help. The project will create opportunities for young people to learn skills around providing food for the homeless, meeting the needs of the community and how to fulfil those needs with a nutritionally based meal. The key benefits will be to let young people learn about the difficulties faced by those more disadvantaged; while developing their own skills to make a positive difference to the lives of others. The project will teach cooking skills, within a safe environment so young people can also learn about nutrition and how to prepare low-cost but healthy food. A grant will cover costs including staff time, equipment, materials and premises.

The project will develop Cre8's social enterprise business capability over the next 12 months. Young people from the local community are experiencing difficulty in finding ongoing employment opportunities and Cre8 want to extend the work offerings that they can participate in. This project will develop business models and undertake business development to extend Cre8's current social enterprise work to deliver long term solutions that provide viable work opportunities for young people LOCALLY. The emphasis is to provide opportunities ? for the hardest to reach young people in the community. The purpose of this proposal is to fund a post that will bring an additional suitably capable person into Cre8 who can create the seeds for developing new opportunities within our social enterprise work and to expand them in ways that sustainably increase employment for local people. A grant will pay for the salary of the new worker.

Cre8 have been awarded funding towards the employment costs of Youth Workers who will work on the Cre8 Jobs project, they will organise young people to do practical tasks in the community including clearing and improving community paths and open spaces, growing fruit and vegetables to cook at community meals, making cakes to sell at community events, repairing and selling bikes, repairs and maintenance to the community building including painting, and repairing and maintaining musical instruments. Cre8 Jobs will reduce worklessness, increase self-esteem and confidence and raise employability skills; the project will build on the quality and experience of Cre8 Works and Cre8 Facilities, by engaging NEET and vulnerable young people and young adults in doing practical tasks for community benefit, in this way Cre8 Jobs will provide work experience opportunities coupled with the guidance and support of a experienced youth workers, channelling people towards paid employment. It will also make it possible for us to support the young people and young adults with whom our relationship is limited because they are only with us at a specific event like a Youth Club, a Music Drop-in, an Alternative Education session or a social enterprise working shift. The grant will pay for staffing costs, reward trips, operational activity and equipment.

Cre8 is an independent Macclesfield charity, which empowers disadvantaged, hard-to-reach, vulnerable and at-risk young people and young adults in the local community to 'Make Change Happen' for themselves and their community through a range of established activities including youth clubs, music, alternative education, residentials, community festivals and two social enterprise businesses; Cre8 Works and Cre8 Facilities, which provide paid employment experience for individuals and income for the charity. The project Cre8 Jobs will reduce worklessness, increase self-esteem and confidence and raise employability skills by engaging NEET and vulnerable young people and young adults in doing unfunded practical tasks for community benefit, in this way Cre8 Jobs will provide work experience opportunities coupled with the guidance and support of a qualified and experienced community Youth Support Worker, channelling people towards paid employment. The grant is a contribution towards the employment costs of a Team Leader to work on the Cre8 Jobs project to supervise practical tasks in the community such as clearing and improving shared community paths and open spaces, and part-funding for the employment costs of a qualified, experienced Youth Support Worker.

Cre8 aims to empower young people and adults in the local community to make change happen for themselves and also for their local neighbourhood. The Cre8 Jobs project will reduce unemployment, increase self-esteem and confidence and raise employability skills. The Youth Social Action Project will work with local young people in the neighbourhood to bring community benefit by improving community spaces and pathways. In supporting these young people, Cre8 also undertake a wide range of activities and projects including 'Off-beat' music and bikes, sports, arts and crafts and trips, providing healthy food, often prepared by the young people themselves. The grant will pay for a contribution towards the Cre8 Works Team Leader, volunteer costs and activity costs.
