Allsorts Youth Project supports children and young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay bisexual or transgender or unsure of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. It aims to extend training, consultancy and partnership work with Brighton and Hove local authority, and work in East and West Sussex schools, colleges and community organisations to ensure the provision of LGBT youth inclusive and safe services. This grant supports Allsorts to expand their programme to under-served communities, further develop their existing programmes and refine their asset-based approach.

Many Transgendered young people experience opposition at home, school, and in their neighbourhood. They can feel isolated, be subjected to abuse and discrimination, have poor medical care, and become estranged from their family. They face personal challenges as they learn to understand their gender identity. 63% have faced discrimination or bullying, 47% have self-harmed and 26% attempted suicide.The Trans Youth Project in Brighton offers 1-1 and group support for young people and support and training for parents and professionals. A grant will help Trans young people to feel better about who they are, reduce isolation, improve their mental health, reduce self-harm, and the improve services they use.
