THE GEFFRYE MUSEUM TRUST

The Museum of the Home explores the theme of home through galleries, rooms through time and gardens, special exhibitions, learning programmes and community engagement activities. Formerly known as the Geffyre Museum, it is housed in the 300-year old Geffrye Almshouse buildings in Hackney, and encourages people from London's diverse communities to learn about home - a theme common to everyone.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has a robust balance sheet
  • There has been reasonable growth in spending over the last 3 years relative to the previous period
  • There have been no material income shortfalls in recent years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of age and dynamic in terms of composition

Financial issues to consider:

  • Liquidity appeared to be in excess of CC guidelines at the latest year end
  • Income has been volatile recently but spending has been maintained
  • Fundraising costs are high relative to funds raised
Established: 34 years
