"The Armed Forces Covenant aims to: 1) the Armed Forces Covenant defines the enduring, general principles that should govern the relationship between the Nation, the Government and the Armed Forces community. 2) It aims to encourage all parties within a community to offer support to the local Armed Forces community and make it easier for Service personnel, families and veterans to access the help and support available from the MOD, from statutory providers and from the Charitable and Voluntary Sector. These organisations already work together in partnership at local level. 3) the scheme is intended to be a two-way arrangement and the Armed Forces community are encouraged to do as much as they can to support their community and promote activity which integrates the Service community into civilian life. "

The funding will be used to deliver theFylde Loneliness Prevention Programme for adults aged 65 years and over who may be vulnerable socially isolated and lonely. Support consists of a 12 week programme of 1:1 engagement complemented by individual support group social and mentoring activities. With existing referral partners and self-referral available access to the programme will be free of charge for all participants. A full time project co-ordinator will be employed to help deliver the one to one support group mentoring support and social activities. The co-ordinator will also recruit and upskill volunteers to support with the delivery and sustainability of the project. The voluntary roles will assist in setting up and delivery of social activities upskilling volunteers to lead session delivery after funding ends.
