The funding will be used to run weekly and holiday sports sessions for disadvantaged families. The project aims to help children to fulfil their potential and help them achieve positive outcomes whilst increasing their confidence and improving their relationships.

Girls and young women will be safer, more aware of how to deal with and vocalise their experiences of domestic abuse, be more resilient and able to cope, feel happier and have higher self-esteem and a sense of self-worth, and know how to seek help now and in the future. Future prospects and chances of achievement are improved. Mental and physical health and well being in childhood and adulthood are improved. Young women and girls will be able to make positive choices about their relationships and be able to identify risky situations, both in person and on-line. This post will be part of a wider service which incorporates a whole family approach, strengthening families and ensuring support both before and after intensive interventions where a need is identified.

The project supports children and young people, who have witnessed and/or experienced domestic and sexual violence and abuse and as a result have suffered with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties related to those experiences. The project has been developed to increase capacity and introduce more support around the initial safety of the child, as well as working with women and families offering parenting skills training.
