"The Armed Forces Covenant aims to: 1) the Armed Forces Covenant defines the enduring, general principles that should govern the relationship between the Nation, the Government and the Armed Forces community. 2) It aims to encourage all parties within a community to offer support to the local Armed Forces community and make it easier for Service personnel, families and veterans to access the help and support available from the MOD, from statutory providers and from the Charitable and Voluntary Sector. These organisations already work together in partnership at local level. 3) the scheme is intended to be a two-way arrangement and the Armed Forces community are encouraged to do as much as they can to support their community and promote activity which integrates the Service community into civilian life. "

This funding will enable a coordinator to offer additional training and support to support families as well coordinate ongoing weekly volunteer support in the home as well as logistical support getting out and attending appointments practical support with household management and routines and emotional support. The project aims to meet the needs of the rising number of families coming for help while they await an Autism or special educational needs diagnosis throughout Richmondshire district.

The project's target beneficiary group are families who do not reach the thresholds for social care intervention but need preventative and early-stage support, including families from the Catterick Garrison, a military garrison located within the district of Richmondshire.
