Promote teaching and the ITT Scholarships Programmes nationally to attract applications from high quality subject experts including those who may not otherwise consider teaching; recruit and select candidates that have a strong academic record, an excellent understanding of their subject and an ability to explain it to pupils, who are committed to teaching and who have the personal attributes to make them a good classroom teacher; and design and deliver bespoke subject-specific candidate support to enhance scholars' knowledge and expertise to benefit pupils and schools alongside their ITT programme and in some cases in their first year as an early career teacher.

I am writing to offer you a grant of up to £20,000 towards the costs of leading and managing Generate; the joint programme between the British Council and Arts Council England. Up to 12 emerging and mid-careers producers, curators and presenters (6 from England and 6 from the United States) will be selected to form a networked delegation that will attend a series of festivals and events in the UK and USA over a year-long to eighteen-month period. Delegates will have accommodation, travel, festival/performance fees and substance covered as part of the project. There will be an open application process in summer 2019 with a selection panel made up of British Council, Arts Council England and external members from the industry. Priority will be given to diverse applicants and those who would not have the resources to support their international development through other means. Selected participants will aim to develop collaborations and co-productions, supporting these individuals to work internationally in the future.

High levels of poverty, poor housing conditions and lack of access to services in Likuni and Mtandire, peri-urban settlements of Malawi's capital city, significantly hamper the healthy development of young people. Gender inequality means girls in particular are at risk of early child marriage and sexual violence. This project will provide safe spaces for 1170 young people (60% of them girls) aged between 7 and 20 years to learn about healthy relationships and behaviours, to gain life skills and to advocate for their rights through the delivery of a sport for development curriculum. They will be better able to access SRH services and communities will be more aware of issues they face.

This pilot project, co-funded by the Premier League, the British Council and Sport Relief aims to adapt the UK Premier League Enterprise initiative to test out the model in an overseas context in South Africa. It will use the backdrop of professional football clubs’ business models to deliver core skills in enterprise education for young people from the football clubs’ community engagement programmes and NGOs active in enterprise education. Key learning from this pilot can then be used to potentially scale up the initiative in future yearsThe pilot will involve a co-creation approach with local partners and will be delivered in 2 centres (Cape Town and Johannesburg). An initial scoping exercise will be undertaken to identify suitable partners, followed by 3 webinars delivered by a UK Premier League consultant to local partner stakeholders. These webinars will aim to explain more about the enterprise offer, provide an opportunity for input from local partners, agree roles and responsibilities and then finalise the programme content, delivery model and outcomes framework relevant to the delivery context and local partner needs.A face to face training intervention will then be designed and delivered by Premier League consultant trainers in Johannesburg and Cape Town for selected practitioners from local partner organisations. These practitioners will then run up to 25 enterprise skills development courses for young people from their organisations in the cascade phase, with a further face to face visit planned by the Premier League consultant trainers for quality assurance purposes.

We believe that learning through music is a powerful way to inspire and enhance children's language learning. We believe that sharing musical and artistic traditions between cultures develops children's understanding of their place in the world and can boost aspiration. Traditional language teaching is preoccupied with memorising and matching vocabulary. By bringing music to the sound components of language (i.e. rhyme, repetition and rhythm), we will support teachers to overcome the barriers that hinder them from becoming confident leaders of language learning. Using evidence-informed models of CPDL, we will develop new learning partnerships between teachers, music animateurs, and linguists.
