Jisc provides ICT infrastructure and related services to all HEIs, FECs and most research establishments across the UK. It is a private, not-for-profit company and charity which derives most of its funding via grant.1. Provision of Shared Digital InfrastructureThe provision of shared digital infrastructure and services (Janet). 300+ organisations and links to all major networks worldwide.2.The negotiation of sector-wide deals with IT vendors and commercial publishers.Jisc acts as intelligent customer and demand aggregator for the FE sector to secure preferential rates to commercial publications and services. The grant funds e-books for FE whereby about 40 of the most-used titles are made freely available to FE students. The most recent refresh of the titles focused on English and Maths.3.Trusted advice and practical assistanceJisc provides free advice on the use of ICT in supporting curriculum delivery and BAU back-office functions. The advice is expert and unbiased. Jisc provides bespoke advice to colleges on a commercial basis. At a more granular level, according to Jisc's website, its services, which are included the subscription that FE providers pay, are separated into six core services. Connectivity/ Trust and Identity/ Cyber Security/ Cloud/ Data Analytics/ Libraries, Learning and Support and Research.
