The funding will support salaries at the centre - enabling the organisation to transition from their current premises and maintain sustainable growth whilst continuing to meet increased demand and to deliver a range of family programmes that support children and family’s mental health and wellbeing in Trafford. Calm Connections (CC) are a local grassroots CIC in Trafford that set up in 2018 with the object of delivering activities that benefit the community families and support children and young people’s wellbeing. CC have seen their 1 to 1 service users grow year on year from 116 (2020-2021) to 308 (2021-2022). The bulk of this is their programme work looking at ‘Understanding Trauma’ behaviour mindfulness yoga and holistic wellbeing (all of which include 1 to 1 support) that saw 144 participants in the last year. CC also worked with 144 clients through their mentoring family coaching support groups and support via telephone. Secondary Support via events and groups such as guest speakers CC’s RESET event and a closed Facebook group are also expected to see an increase from 1390 over the past year to around 2000 in 2023.

Family Activities; enabling early intervention activities and support to create free, positive, fun experiences for families, encouraging family connection and wellbeing.

We will provide wellbeing and mental health toolkits, and a monthly support group, for local families with young people who have anxiety, low mood, and depression.

"The fund aims to:1) To reduce closures of essential charities that provide essential services to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 crisis by ensuring they have the financial resources to operate, thereby reducing the burden on public services.2) To ensure essential services are provided to vulnerable people, both in the short and long term through increased community support through the work of charitable organisations."

The funding is to increase capacity of welfare advice services to cope with the increased demand caused by COVID19 by employing 2 additional part time advice workers.(London Community Response Grant)
