The funding is being used to provide activities such as chair-based exercise classes speech language and communication classes social and rehabilitation classes and monthly carers meetings. The project aims to improve mental and physical well-being of local people.

Services will be rolled out to hospitals and GPs to support people immediately after discharge and help reduce anxiety and isolation. There will be home visits and group sessions, with information on nutrition, support with speech and communication, social groups and visits. There will also be an annual public awareness day.

This project in Harlow, Essex and the surrounding areas aims to overcome feelings of isolation, inability to communicate and loss of self confidence in stroke survivors and their carers. This will be achieved through information, support training, social events and friendship. The project activities start with home visits to assess individual needs, these tend to include form filling, home help, help with shopping and gardening. If required it will also contact relevant agencies on the beneficiaries behalf.
