Following the event, the backdrops will be exhibited at The Tetley for two months (including the Jubilee weekend) with information about the groups of women who access WHM support.

The project is using funding to deliver ‘Breathe Free’ a three-step support package to women in Leeds who have experienced complex trauma and are at risk of having a child removed into care. The project will empower women through group work peer education and support and one-to-one support from professionals many of whom have personal lived experience themselves to develop longer-term strategies to regain a sense of control and choice in their lives.

This is a new project that aims to support vulnerable young women in Leeds to better manage the effects of domestic violence, either in their home or in their relationship. It will assist them in identifying violence and abuse, developing coping mechanisms and gaining confidence and self esteem in order to allow them to make informed choices about what is best for them. Approx 144 young women under the age of 25 who are experiencing or are at risk of violence in their intimate relationship will benefit.
