VILLAGE HALL TRUST, LITTLE HADHAM

Located two miles from Bishops Stortford and 10 miles from Ware in Hertfordshire, Little Hadham Village Hall serves both the local and wider community. Traditional village hall activities are very much part of what we do alongside promoting health and well-being and we work with outside agencies to help us do this. Refurbishment projects are ongoing and vital to secure the future of the hall.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • There have been no material income shortfalls in recent years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy
  • This charity does not have a Conflict of Interests policy
  • There are 14 trustees whereas the Charities Commission recommends a maximum of 12
  • Over half the Board have joined recently

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Accounts have been filed late on 3 occasions over the last 5 years and the current period appears to have been extended
