We want to use this funding to meet the needs of those who are newly diagnosed and struggling to adapt to their diagnosis but also to support those who have been living with sight loss for a long time but feel the pandemic has set them back.

This development of a pilot project will teach IT skills to visually impaired people in the North West of England, with training delivered in accessible venues such as local libraries and community centres. The accredited course will be flexible, lasting 12 to 16 weeks depending on ability. Beneficiaries will learn basic IT skills such as how to turn the computer on, saving work, creating CVs, how to use the internet and how to send emails using specially adapted software.
