Through their example and peer support, they will encourage other girls and young woman to embrace and understand their bodies, and not be disadvantaged as a consequence of them. As a result of the project girls, young women and those who work with and support them will feel more positive and comfortable talking about menstruation and the specific support, understanding and needs that girls and women have as a consequence of it. The project will target girls who are likely most effected by period poverty and those who are identified as not achieving their full potential. This will be done in partnership with the schools and through identifying those who may be eligible for free school meals and pupil premium. In this way, the initial beneficiaries will be those who are most disadvantaged and the project will see improvements in self-esteem, aspiration, confidence and attainment; in addition, through presenting their work to their peers in their own schools as well as at the conference the girls will see themselves differently and will be seen differently by those around them, including their immediate peers, teachers and others connected with them. Girls engaged in the project will be young ambassadors for Period Power and will take on the role of raising awareness and funds for provision within their own schools. The conference event will engage with schools not directly included in the project who will be encouraged and supported to set up similar schemes of their own
