CREATIVE RECOVERY CIO

Creative Recovery (Creative Recovery CI0) is a people-led charity that uses creativity to bring about social change, boost and support Recovery and wellbeing and nurture community spirit in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. We support individuals and families with experience of mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues. We also aim to challenge stigma and raise awareness of mental wellbeing.

Creative Recovery provided a programme aimed at individuals in Barnsley in South Yorkshire who are recovering from addiction or who have mental health issues. Participants met to learn creative skills such as screen printing and mural art. They then create artworks together, which were showcased in Barnsley for local residents to enjoy. The aim of the project was to increase civic pride, promote greater acceptance and understanding of mental health and recovery, and improve access to services for people who may be isolated and lack support.
