This funding will support Rio Ferdinand Foundation in partnership with YourStory to deliver a new project designed to work with young people and families mostly marginalised by the pandemic receiving £230455 funding over 3 years. The intention is to reconnect them with the wider community and business sector. The organisations believe that this will build resilience and confidence; raise aspirations instil self-belief help progress towards goals and ambitions; along with building social and professional networks. This work will take place in Peckham and across other areas in Southwark such as at the Damilola Taylor Centre and Athenlay Football Club.

It will operate in eleven areas of Greater Manchester.

Growing up in some parts of South London can be difficult, with young people experiencing high levels of crime, unemployment and educational underachievement. Issues relating to gangs are also prevalent. The grant will support a year round programme of positive multi sports activities to engage young people and link them into a range of accredited and non-accredited training, bespoke personal development packages and one to one mentoring. As a result they will have improved skills, confidence and employment opportunities. It will also create a pool of youth leaders intended to create a positive effect for the wider community that should ultimately also feel safer.
