The funding will support Rights and Equality Sandwell (RES) with their core funding for organisational and administrative costs. RES also want to employ a Development Coordinator (24hours pw) which should increase their capacity to lead the way in upholding local communities shared values of justice freedom and compassion through their outreach and case work. RES is a strategic organisation working with partners throughout the borough of Sandwell offering support and guidance for all Sandwell residents with a focus on the BAMER community. RES is currently the only non-statutory service provider in Sandwell that is known to open dialogue and support organisations and individuals to challenge injustice discrimination and inequalities. The Making Voices Matter Differently project will give RES the opportunity to rejuvenate their core function which is to strengthen their existing and build new partnerships represent the community of Sandwell and the issues important to them in strategic meetings calling for action and to manage day-to-day queries and complex cases of inequality injustice discrimination and racism (currently 5-7 cases a month).

The funding will be used to employ a part-time case worker. The project aims to provide support advice and representation for people dealing with cases of discrimination and inequality.

"The fund aims to:1) To reduce closures of essential charities that provide essential services to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 crisis by ensuring they have the financial resources to operate, thereby reducing the burden on public services.2) To ensure essential services are provided to vulnerable people, both in the short and long term through increased community support through the work of charitable organisations."

The funding will be used to deliver wellbeing workshops for women. The project aims to strengthen participants' feeling of assertiveness and confidence.
