This two-year project evolved out of the expressed wishes of domestic abuse survivors. These women, all of whom are from the Cambridge area, have always wanted, but never had, the opportunity to move onto something together, linking with other survivors in a supportive and reciprocal manner, continuing their recovery journey. The project provided a safe and supportive weekly space to come together, building peer support, networks and ties and increasing confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. Trained staff provided a crèche, outreach and additional support, enabling women to attend. Women identified and planned specific activities and opportunities they want to be encompassed within sessions, such as art therapy.
