This project will support the most vulnerable local people into the groups premises. The funding will provide a warm safe and comfortable home-from-home where neighbours of mixed ages and backgrounds can forge connections with others whilst enjoying meaningful issue-based creative activities.

Core funding

We would like to involve all local young women at risk in enjoyable issue-based arts activities. This will enable them to gain skills and confidence, and promote inclusion in civic life.

WellConnected

We would involve isolated older people in our enjoyable arts activities - creative writing, music, movement and performance. It would provide social contact and increase wellbeing.

We want to deliver a new programme of peer support targeting young women aged 16-25 experiencing multiple disadvantage in Islington because many of the young women currently attending our projects report mental health problems such as depression and anxiety and some are adopting harmful coping strategies. We shall facilitate a safe environment where young women can talk about their mental health alongside taking part in participatory combined arts work - improving wellbeing, increasing hopefulness, making connections/friendships and empowering the young women.Two women aged 18-25 will be employed in work-based trainee roles as Peer Leaders. Three female artists - experienced in working with vulnerable young women - will collaborate with core staff, peer leaders and partners and lead the creative sessions. Work will be free to attend, running once a week at a time to suit the young women in All Changes accessible, welcoming Dingley Place premises.An outreach programme will alert participants and stakeholders to the project going live. Peer support will supplement our existing provision B Creative, Inspire! and Re-create to reach known young women in need and to offer the benefits of inspiring arts activity: photography; digital arts; singing; songwriting; poetry; music production. In addition to group work with artists, young women will be able to take part in weekly mutual peer support sessions offering them a dedicated safe space to discuss their mental health. The project will offer additional advice and guidance from professional partners (careers/education, health, safeguarding, domestic abuse awareness).

Funding is requested to provide a weekly young parents programme providing access to emotional and practical support, learning activities and skills development including support from peer leaders and a complementary programme of 1:1 support

Power-Up – arts, creative learning and skills development for young women in Islington To engage young people at risk of exclusion or involvement in criminal activity in high quality photography, digital arts, lyrics, singing, and music production activities leading to the creation of new publicly shared work. Work with inspirational artists will be supplemented with training, advice and guidance, wellbeing activities and skills development.
