Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • There has been strong growth in spending over the last 5 years
  • There have been no material income shortfalls in recent years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including a Community Foundation
  • The Board appears to be dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • This charity raises funds from the public but is not recognised by HMRC for Gift Aid according to its latest published return
  • The Board is predominantly male

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data

Veteran Families Recovery College

Objectives: provide early intervension and long turm support for veterans and their families struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

Intervention period: 3 years

Beneficiaries: Veterans and their families

Location: North East

Description: Veterans Mental Health support for North East veterans and their families. It should be evident that working in a uniformed service can bring danger and stress. Every day our uniformed services work long hours in sometimes very dangerous conditions. They keep us all safe, but sometimes this can come at a personal cost.

It’s an unfortunate reality that these people can, and often do get hurt physically and mentally. It can be the same for veterans of all of the services. A soldier out on the front line, witnessing horrors that many of us could probably never imagine.

These can lead to PTSD, depression, phobias, anxiety, relationship problems, drinking and drugs.
