At present there is no IT or AV infrastructure. Built in 1857 Shirleys Bone and Flint Mill is the only remaining operational steam powered potters mill in the world and where traditional methods of processing potters raw materials may be seen. Its uniqueness is reflected by designation as a scheduled monument with grade 2* listed buildings. Due to the limited space and the probable continued requirement for social distancing it will be necessary to restrict the number of visitors admitted to the mill, especially when it is operational in steam. The use of IT and AV with projectors, screens and software applications for tablets and mobile phones will allow the site to be used more effectively and virtual tours of the mill, canals and Etruria village will promote the museum. This will help to retain and enhance the public and public sector interest necessary to look after and sustain the asset and enhance the offer to community groups and education.
