"The fund aims to:1) To reduce closures of essential charities that provide essential services to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 crisis by ensuring they have the financial resources to operate, thereby reducing the burden on public services.2) To ensure essential services are provided to vulnerable people, both in the short and long term through increased community support through the work of charitable organisations."

In recent years we have been implementing our plan to develop as a social enterprise whereby we generate more of our own revenue from 'chargeable' services. Our shopmobility service (hiring/selling mobility equipment) and community cafe (food/snacks/catering) were at the heart of these plans but have closed due to COVID-19, resulting in a huge reduction in income. We have re-purposed our staff, initially to undertake Safe & Well checks - which are now becoming regular Check in and Chat telephone or video calls for some of the more vulnerable and isolated disabled and older people we are in contact with.

Dial West Cheshire provides a quality assured Advice & Information service which enables disadvantaged people to access their rights and entitlements and we are implementing a system of Safe & Well checks during the coronavirus pandemic (which has revealed that our charity is not well prepared for remote/off site working). We have moved swiftly to establish an Advice Line and deliver services in a different way - but our old server and lack of laptops etc are barriers to the efficient and effective delivery of an Advice service and the implementation of a well managed system of Safe & Well checks.. We would like a grant towards the additional costs of working remotely and adapting services for disadvantaged and vulnerable people delivered in the wider community, by implementing the IT Forward Strategy brought forward by our wonderful ICT volunteers, including plans to migrate to cloud computing. Our project will enable us to continue to deliver our trusted and valued Advice service to thousands of clients, including additional enquiries and new clients impacted by the economic crisis triggered by coronavirus, as well as supporting the wellbeing of vulnerable people who are part of the Dial community via Safe & Well/Befriending checks.
