This funding will help deliver and grow their existing Ecotherapy programme. It will run regular weekly groups and four seasonal groups sessions for participants with mild to moderate mental ill health and is available for social prescriber referrals and other referral routes offering support at all stages of recovery from hospital discharge through early intervention and on to sustained participation. The project aims to meet a wide range of physical and mental needs all while building nature-connectedness and resilience in the individual.

Green Corridors York will kick start the creation and restoration of more, bigger, better and more joined up habitats across three landscape scale corridors and 22 sites across York Local Authority Area, including floodplain meadow, hedgerows, woodland and riparian habitat of the critically endangered tansy beetle.We will:- Create and restore 78ha through small scale interventions and solutions;- Form and support Corridor wide Nature Conservation Groups;- Develop and lead cross-sector Action Groups;- Train citizen scientists to assess habitat using DEFRAs Biodiversity Matrix;- Create project legacy Corridor Restoration Plans for longer term solutions across 266ha;- Increase resource and capacity to deliver sustainable habitat management through expert training, and purchasing essential machinery and equipmentUtilising strong relationships, expertise in partnership work and project management, we will bring stakeholders together, building capacity across the corridors creating a bigger impact and improved resilience. We will upskill individuals and groups to link, maintain and enhance a range of habitats, providing gains for nature conservation.This project will contribute to all three themes and is ready to start with all permissions in place. It will secure one existing post, create two part-time posts and provide opportunities for two Kickstart programme trainees.

Funding will predominately be used to pay for a volunteer co-ordinator working 1.5 days a week who will carry out socially distant practical volunteering activities, well-being calls with volunteers, preparation and posting of both online and off-line resources. Many of the volunteers live alone, have various vulnerabilities, and rely on the activity and interaction at St Nicks to keep them physically and mentally well. Remaining funds will buy PPE, activity materials & a smartphone for the volunteer co-ordinator.
