London Youth Choirs aspires to be the most inspirational and innovative organisation for young singers in London. Our goals are to create inspirational training opportunities for young people, to give exceptional performances, to empower young people, to strengthen our connection with young audiences, and to create a flagship ensemble to represent the city on the international stage. We aim to inspire our members through stimulating creative processes, diverse performance opportunities and through exciting encounters and collaborations. Underlying these goals is the aim to ensure access to the widest range of young people throughout London.Specifically, the objectives of the London Youth Choirs are to:Advance the musical education and training, particularly of choral music, of young people living or educated in the 33 boroughs of Greater London.The activities employed to meet this objective include the following:Providing a high-calibre weekly training programme for young peoplePromoting and supporting musical and choral education to young people regardless of their financial or social backgroundDelivering open-access workshops for young people, irrespective of their training or experienceFinancially supporting talented young people to enable them to receive the highest standard of musical education

Singing in a choir can be a transforming experience for young children living in challenging circumstances. Through partnering with primary schools in areas of high deprivation, LYC’s Junior Apprenticeship scheme aims to remove all barriers and welcome up to 30 children into its Junior Choirs.
