LONDON YOUTH CHOIR

London Youth Choirs was set up in 2012 as a social action programme and centre of musical excellence. LYC currently comprises six central and two regional choirs for young people from every London borough from school year 3 to age 23. The tuition and performance opportunities that LYC provides are designed to educate and inspire whilst championing inclusivity and understanding.

Objectives

FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING OR EDUCATED IN LONDON IN THE SUBJECT OF MUSIC AND THE PERFORMING ARTS, AND IN PARTICULAR CHORAL MUSIC. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THESE OBJECTS, 'LONDON' MEANS THE BOROUGHS COVERED BY THE GREATER LONDON AUTHORITY OR ANY SUCCESSOR BODY, AND THE CITY OF LONDON.THE CHARITY WILL ACHIEVE THIS BY - 1) PROVIDING A WORLD-CLASS CHORAL TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE;2) PROMOTING AND SUPPORTING MUSICAL AND CHORAL EDUCATION TO YOUNG PEOPLE REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL OR SOCIAL BACKGROUND;3) DELIVERING OPEN-ACCESS WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE; AND4) FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING TALENTED YOUNG PEOPLE TO ENABLE THEM TO RECEIVE MUSICAL EDUCATION OF THE HIGHEST STANDARD AND TO ACHIEVE THEIR POTENTIAL.
