This two-year project supported parents/carers of children with special needs and their families who live in Berkshire. Parenting Special Children ran five peer support groups, each covering a different area of Berkshire, so the same people met regularly over the period of the project. The support groups provided social and networking opportunities for the families and helped to reduce their social and emotional isolation. At sessions parents shared experiences and supported as well as discussed plans for future meetings and activities they would like to see.
