The funding will support Derbyshire LGBT+ to continue its provision in Derby and satellite hubs in Chesterfield Buxton and Swadlincote. Tapered support of £338000 over 3 years towards core costs will allow Derbyshire LGBT+ to return to their pre-covid levels of in-person delivery continue online delivery and focus on income diversification. The charity was created by local LGBT+ activists as a response to the HIV crisis. D LGBT+ supports anyone who is LGBT+ or questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. This support extends to friends and families of LGBT+ people. Current services include one-to-one listening sessions social support groups sexual health advice and guidance same sex domestic abuse support asylum and refugee support suicide prevention work an LGBT+ history project community cafes and mental health support.

The funding will be used to establish Transgender community support groups in various locations across Derbyshire providing a safe space to get together form peer support networks and access support. Those attending the groups will be involved in designing a series of events for Transgender Day of Visibility 2022. The project aims to improve health and wellbeing whilst raising awareness of the challenges and achievements of the Transgender community.

This project is an expansion of the organisation's current work to support people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and their families. Support hubs will be created across the county, beyond the existing centre in Derby, to help isolated and vulnerable people. This will include sessions for different groups of people including women, younger people, older people and refugees. Mental health support will also be provided to help tackle self-harm and suicide.

Derbyshire LGBT+ works across the whole of Derbyshire providing telephone support, drop-in sessions, counselling and group sessions for people from the LGBT+ community and their friends and family. They also provide support to other voluntary, private sector and statutory agencies to help them understand the LGBT+ community and provide support within their own communities. The grant will partly support the salaries of an Office Administrator, 2 Project Officers, and training and support to the board, to help the organisation develop its income streams and support bid writing in order to ensure their sustainability.
