This project will support the delivery of 60-minute Bollywood Dance and 60 minute yoga sessions a week for 30 weeks for South Asian women from lower socio-economic positions. There will also be an offering of swimming and badminton for adults each once a week for 30 weeks. Funding will specifically support equipment, facility hire, transport, promotion and coaching fees.

During COVID-19 BYCS has helped the community by providing services such as food shopping well-being check-ins for the elderly and providing advice to those who have lost their jobs or are seeking work. This funding enables BYCS to increase its capacity by increasing its staff hours for the next six months as well as bring in outside support to enable the increase of online abilities. Support will be delivered remotely at first but will move into the organisation’s offices as restrictions are lifted.

A new project from Bangladeshi Youth and Cultural Shomti to support women mainly from Bangladesh and Pakistan living in the Highfield area of Spinney Hills and Stoneygate, Leicester to develop their parenting skills and increase their self confidence so that they can support their children in education, health and wellbeing as they grow up. Many of the women will be new arrivals to the UK with young children under the age of five.
