"The fund aims to:1) To reduce closures of essential charities that provide essential services to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 crisis by ensuring they have the financial resources to operate, thereby reducing the burden on public services.2) To ensure essential services are provided to vulnerable people, both in the short and long term through increased community support through the work of charitable organisations."

We will develop two peer support groups at the centre for women who are experiencing loneliness, anxiety, depression, stress, isolation, poverty and live within Sefton.Initially the groups will be facilitated by 2 staff and 2 volunteers however once the groups have started to form and take shape there may be members within the groups who can be supported to take on organising or leadership roles. We will provide support in the form of training or coaching/mentoring to individuals who to take on these roles.We will provide a safe, welcoming environment for women to come together and discuss their experiences. There is no pressure on women to share anything as sometimes simply listening to someones experiences can be enough for you to start you thinking about your own journey and progress.We want women to feel supported and participate in supporting others.We want women to create a network of support for themselves that continues outside of the centre.There will be opportunities for those within the group to participate in other services that we provide such as the Therapeutic Allotment project or Befriending Service.The difference that we want to make includes:1. Reducing an individuals sense of stigma related to their poor mental health by sharing their stories and receiving empathy and positive feedback from others.2. Reducing isolation and loneliness.3. Increase personal understanding of their mental health and what impacts on it.4. Increase confidence to participate in their wider community5. Improve confidence.
