Objectives

a) To advance the education of the general public by the provision of premises for collating, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting historic and artistic materials and associated information, particularly that relating to or connected with the general area of Upper Nithsdale. b) To promote, maintain and improve and advance education particularly by promoting and encouraging the study, practice, knowledge and appreciation of the arts and for these purposes to organise, promote, manage and conduct exhibitions, concerts, conferences, classes, dramatic and other performances, film screenings, lectures and seminars in Upper Nithsdale or elsewhere. c) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants and in particular the young, elderly, disabled and economically and socially disadvantaged people of Upper Nithsdale and its environs in association with the local authorities, voluntary organisations, schools and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities or assist in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupation so that their condition of life may be improved. d) To advance the education of those rurally and socially isolated by holding classes in arts and crafts subjects.
