The project has received planning approval and the shed is being be built on Parish Council land supplied on a 14-year lease. Groundworks have been completed and the final build is near completion (due for completion early 2022). Groombridge Men’s Shed was formed by members of the local community and works with mostly men (though women also attend) of all ages and backgrounds. The organisation registered with the Charity Commission in Match 2020. The Shed offers friendship mentoring and support and provides respite care activities for the disabled and disadvantaged. Members are mainly retired people who have come forward to assist one another in making such items as bird boxes insect hotels flower boxes etc. The Shed will provide practical activities in a safe working environment and offer instruction and skill training intergenerational learning and mentoring.
