PENARTH CIVIC SOCIETY

The Penarth Civic Society focuses on the heritage, people and future development of Penarth. The Society was founded in 1988 after a group of people who wanted to save the old Baths Building from redevelopment started a campaign to save it for the town. The aims of that group have expanded to include the preservation and enhancement of all aspects of our heritage and environment.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been very successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • The charity has received modest backing from a grant maker
  • The Board appears to be dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy
  • Over half the Board have joined recently

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Income was lower than spending in the latest year
