CRESSWELL PELE TOWER

Cresswell Pele Tower was built by the Cresswell family in the 15th century and is one of about 175 Pele towers in Northumberland. The Cresswell Pele Tower Project has set up a community and education focused project to investigate the Pele Tower and its environs and then conserve the tower as a resource for future generations.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • There have been no income shortfalls in recent years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers
  • The Board appears to be dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Over half the Board have joined recently

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Accounts have been filed late on 2 occasions over the last 5 years and the current period appears to have been extended
  • Income has been volatile recently and was substantially in excess of spending in the latest year
